What is a funeral Celebrant

A Funeral Celebrant such as my-self is certified and has a diploma in funeral Celebrancy who works to meet family’s needs during the most difficult time of their lives. I am trained to help individuals create and present a funeral, memorial, or celebration of life that is personalized for the person that has passed away.. I am also trained in Deal with Grief and Trauma & Manage Grief and Trauma (These two are Nationally accredited subjects) .

Here are some coping strategies in dealing with grief and trauma:

  1. Confiding emotions and feelings to a loved one, writing a journal, drawing or painting.
  2. Establishing being busy be it with routine to create a safe orderly feeling.
  3. Burn muscle tension by exercising and releasing stress chemicals which will encourage better sleep patterns.
  4. Try relaxing everyday with a warm bath even meditation.

 MY PHILOSOPHY

It is my belief that every one that lives on this earth, for a short while or a life time, leaves something to be celebrated. I believe in honoring the life lived. Each one of my services is custom fit for the person that has passed away. I feel so pleased and honored to do this work because I have lived through the experience of loss. I found having a celebration of life brought the comfort and closure for my family, friends and I.

How Does a Funeral Celebrant Work?

It all begins with a family meeting. This is an amazing time of remembering and sharing of stories and history.
You will gather stories and Information about the deceased. I will then write a tribute that honours the life of the person that has died or if you would prefer you can gather stories yourself and get a family member or friend to read it out. The family decides on all aspects of the service, prayers, music, readings; whatever you would like. I can help you with ideas that will fit the deceased and your family. On the day of the tribute, I will officiate and oversee the celebration.

How do I arrange for you to be our funeral celebrant for our loved one?

There are a couple of ways to find me you can contact me directly (details are Placed Above this webpage), or ask the funeral home you are dealing with to contact me for you.

A Funeral Ceremony in it's simplest form is as follows

  1. Music
  2. Introduction
  3. Reading, Prayer or poem
  4. Eulogy / Biography
  5. Reflection (Music)
  6. Committal
  7. Music

Pet Funerals

The loss of a loved pet is often a traumatic experience. As an animal lover myself and a pet owner I know and undestand that your pet becomes part of your family. A pet funeral is where we honour and remember your beloved pet. Sometimes it involves the pet being layed to rest in your backyard.

Please feel free to contact me so we can discus your needs for you and your pet.
